In Britain: Omar Bakri Muhammad - Syrian-born, his Muhajiroun organisation is dedicated to one cause: creating Khilafah, a world Islamic state. Without it, the group says, "there is no security in the Islamic world". Openly militant, the group has courted controversy in Britain since gaining independence from the Saudi Arabian group Hizbut-Tahrir in 1996, prompting calls for the leaders to be deported. Sheikh Mohamed supported the bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.He is a spokesman for the Islamic Political Front, the military wing of which was founded by Osama bin Laden, believed to be behind the embassy bombings. Al Muhajiroun has 1,000s of British members, and is rising. "England is the capital of the Islamic world," says Bakri Mohammad, the Syrian asylum- seeker who founded al Muhajiroun in 1986. "Trafalgar Square has become our Mecca."
